Change Detection

The satellite imagery below illustrates an example of forest cover change detection. The image was produced by fusing IRS-1C pan data from 1996 with Landsat multispectral data from 1993. Areas that were cut before 1993 appear blue while the brownish-red areas indicate cuts since that time. Merging of the two data sets provides foresters with the required high spatial detail along with broad spectral differentiation.
