Spectral Analysis
of
Individual Bands over Manhattan

Examples of LANDSAT Thematic Mapper's (TM) seven bands are presented in the following tables by order of wavelength. TM bands 1-5 and 7 measure energy that is reflected off the surface of the Earth. Bands 1, 2 and 3 measure the colors blue, green and red in the visible spectrum. Band 4 measures the near infrared. And bands 5 and 7 measure reflected energy in the shortwave infrared. Each of these bands measures energy at a ground resolution of thirty meters.
